Writer's Tears

In Ireland, we don't like to pay taxes. Taxes on whiskey were calculated on the quantity of malted barley used to produce it. The unmalted barley and the malted barley were mixed to obtain the Pot Still Whiskey. Such is the real tradition in this country where the vine does not grow.

Writers Tears is the original member of the Walsh Whiskey family. It is a unique blend of Pure Pot Still and Single Malt Whiskey with grain whiskey. Many years ago, Irish producers did not want to follow their Scottish counterparts down the grain whiskey road by maintaining a Pot Still Whiskey dominated production. The Writer's Tears sets the record straight by going back on this old decision to make Irish whiskey a nectar without added grain.

It is not chill-filtered, which gives it a slightly cloudy appearance, so you know it's a high quality whiskey, following the old Irish Pot Still tradition to the letter.
