Each striving to better the last, Batch 10 is a true illustration of the artistry and expertise that creates every drop of our liquid gold. To deliver our classically Sherried profile, Billy hand-selected Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso casks to be married with spirit maturing in red wine barriques and medium toast/medium char American virgin oak barrels. The result is a well-balanced, yet complex malt with distinctive notes of dark fruits and layers of warming sweet spice.

Billy Walker specially selected this limited release, matured in Speyside, and bottled at 58.1%, showcasing a harmonious blend of flavors from PX and Oloroso casks, Virgin Oak barrels, and Rioja wine barriques, it is non-chill filtered and has no added coloring.

Factors such as the oak species, level of toasting, and coopering of the cask each leave a unique mark on the slumbering spirit. The oak itself was previously influenced by the grape variety and terroir of the winery from which we sourced these barriques; thus, the wood adds distinctive layers of complexity, depth and charm.

This mahogany malt obtains its spicy, treacly flavours from maturation in hogsheads made of Spanish Oak (Quercus Robur). This particular wood was sourced from the regions of Galicia and Asturias, specifically from the forests of the Cantabrian Mountains, which have a cool, humid climate. The oak was air dried for around 18 months and then toasted and charred to a medium level, opening up the oak to allow our complex spirit to extract its cask character. The secondary ageing in these virgin casks deepened the mahogany hue of the whisky and created a palate rich with dried fruits, maraschino cherries and hints of stem ginger.

These particular French oak barriques were procured from one of just five Premier Cru Classé chateaux located in the world-renowned wine region of Bordeaux, France.

This deliciously fruity whisky enjoyed initial maturation in premium American oak ex-Bourbon barrels for over 8 years. Adding further complexity, the spirit was then transferred into specially elected Moscatel casks for a finishing period of over 42 months. A particularly aromatic dessert wine produced in Portugal, these Moscatel barriques offer up floral aromas, coupled with a silky-smooth mouthfeel. Delivering distinctive notes of tart fruit and rich toffee, this bronzed malt is one to be savoured.

Almost five years since we formed the GlenAllachie Distillers Company, bringing the distillery back into private ownership, we released the very special expression as an extension of our core range. Our Master Distiller, Billy Walker, has worked tirelessly on perfecting this expression since day one; evaluating casks and refining recipes to create something special. We’re proud to present the jewel in our crown; the GlenAllachie 15 years old.

This whisky was distilled on on 26th March 2010 and aged in a single ex-PX Sherry cask #804032 for 13 years.

To craft The GlenAllachie Wine Cask Series, Master Blender Billy Walker first expertly matured our spirit in the finest American oak ex-Bourbon barrels, before transferring the whisky into hand-selected European wine barriques for secondary aging. Billy added a distinctive twist to this release by ultimately blending four exceptional wine cask finishes into one unique expression: The Cuvée Wine Cask Finish. The next release of GlenAllachie's Cuvée, bottled in 2023, is a harmonious marriage of whisky matured in barriques which previously held premium red wine.
