Writers Tears is the original member of the Walsh Whiskey family. It is a unique blend of Pure Pot Still and Single Malt Whiskey with grain whiskey. Many years ago, Irish producers did not want to follow their Scottish counterparts down the grain whiskey road by maintaining a Pot Still Whiskey dominated production. The Writer's Tears sets the record straight by going back on this old decision to make Irish whiskey a nectar without added grain. It is not chill-filtered, which gives it a slightly cloudy appearance, so you know it's a high quality whiskey, following the old Irish Pot Still tradition to the letter.
New trends and timeless classics are often very close. This is something that is only appreciated with wisdom. Something within reach of only a few. This knowledge is not easy to obtain. It requires taste curiosity, persistence and a desire to transcend the passing of time. Ron Matusalem Gran Reserva 23 is the fruit of one of these scarce wisdoms. From the Alvarez family, who with exquisite taste created, in Santiago de Cuba, almost 150 years ago, a sophisticated and personal rum which nowadays is the favorite reference of the most demanding connaisseurs around the world.
Cotswolds Single Malt Whisky is made from grain to glass in the heart of the Cotswolds, using locally grown barley which is mashed and fermented for a full four days before being distilled twice in our bespoke copper pot stills. It is then aged in premium ex-bourbon and reconditioned red wine casks before being blended and bottled on site at the distillery.
Writers’ Tears Double Oak is an exclusive Irish whiskey created using two woods and two styles of premium Irish whisey. A blend of Single Pot Still and Single Malt Irish whiskey, aged in two types of wood – American Oak Bourbon Barrels from Kentucky and French Oak Cognac Casks from the Cognac Region in France. It is triple-distilled, non-chill filtered and bottled at 46% ABV. This expression is made possible by a close collaboration between the Walsh family in Ireland’s County Carlow and the Legaret family in Cognac, France.
The GlenAllachie Distillery was formed, a visitor’s centre and two warehouses were opened and the team grew from seven to 21 employees. The GlenAllachie and MacNair’s whiskies are now recognised as outstanding malts, receiving numerous medals and awards across both ranges.
It’s time now to expand the GlenAllachie core range and showcase more of what GlenAllachie whisky has to offer. GlenAllachie’s Master Distiller, Billy Walker, has been working tirelessly on this new expression since day one: evaluating casks and refining recipes to create something special. We’re proud to present the jewel in the crown; the GlenAllachie 15Y old.
