The Matsui Mizunara Cask

A single malt whisky distilled in the rich, natural environment of Tottori and aged in Mizunara (Japanese oak)casks. Combined with the bitter flavor of unblended whisky, a faintly sweet, aged aroma tickles the nose with a smooth yet rich, lingering aftertaste. This masterpiece, carefully crafted with heart and passion, is brought to proof with high-quality natural spring water from Mt. Daisen.

Matsui Whiskies are Japanese whiskies produced by Matsui Shuzou at the Kurayoshi Distillery. It is located in the coastal prefecture of Tottori - on the southern part of Honshu island - well known for its sand dunes. Whiskies produced by the Kurayoshi Distillery are produced with pure underground waters from the Daisen Mountains. The Matsui Single Malt is a tribute to Japanese culture and its «Ukiyo-e» drwaing art form. This new range really shows off Kurayoshi Distillery’s crafmanship in terms of Single Malt. Double distilled in pot stills then aged in Mizunara oak casks. Mizunara is known for its rarity and the difficulty to work its tight grain to make barrels. Spirits aged in this type of oak gain unique and original flavors. Aging takes place in the Tottori perfecture in a natural environment very favorable for a good aging. It is then diluted down with high quality natural spring water from Mont Daisen.
